Under U.S. law, a president can serve only 2 terms, after which he cannot run again. But this has not always been the case – Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected president 4 times in a row in 1932, 1936, 1940, and 1944, he was also one of the most popular presidents ever, who was elected by an overwhelming majority:

Unfortunately in 1944 his health condition deteriorated. He passed away 6 months after winning the election for the fourth time, and was replaced by Harry Truman.
Franklin d. Roosevelt was the first and last president to serve for more than twice. Before him it was customary to serve only 2 terms, but this was not fixed by law.

In 1951, the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, which limits the term of office of the President to 2 terms, was finally approved.

What was before Radar?

Before the invention of the radar, when early detection of approaching war aircrafts was necessary, there was a sound-based detection device.

Large tubes were used, and well… it was just amplifying the noise of the aircrafts engines.

Over time, as the planes became faster and flew higher and higher, the device lost its initial effectiveness. The radar replaced it.
The tool’s nickname was “the war tuba”.

Were there Jewish pirates?

When Spain has deported and exiled all the Jews in 1492, it gained quite a lot of enemies some of them were seafaring enemies.
Navigators on the Royal Spanish fleet where often Jewish, so it was inevitable to those navigators take the train into their new home. Some share the knowledge with the Ottoman Empire, and joined the efforts of harming the Spanish fleet in the Mediterranean waters. Others went as far as Jamaica where is strong Jewish community supported the attacks as revenge into Spanish Royal Fleet. In 2008 an old Jewish cemetery was found in Jamaica and apart from the Hebrew writings and the Star of David on the tombs there was also another symbol the one of the bones and the skull.

The real Pretty Boy Floyd (birth name: Charles Arthur Floyd ) was a bank robber from Georgia (USA) which was known for damaging mortgage documents – while robbing banks, thus gaining the love of the people from the southern states who also nicked named him “Robin Hood of the Cookson Hills” so, if he is the real Pretty Boy Floyd who are all the rest?

well there are two rock bands called Pretty Boy Floyd. It is also the nickname of a boxer and a billiards player.

Pigeon Guided Missile

During world war II mostly terrible things took place, but some funny things did occur too. while Nazi scientists were working on teaching dogs to talk – There was an American attempt to develop a Pigeon-Guided Missile! This project was funded by the National Defense Research Committee with $25,000 to the research of the world known behaviorist Burrhus Frederic (B. F.) Skinner (this sum of money is equal to about half a million dollars in nowadays value!).

During World War II Nazi scientists tried to train dogs to talk

In the beginning of the 1900’s there was a general assumption (especially in Germany) that several species of animals can be taught to understand and even talk with humans. This was the core idea of Hundesprechschule Asra / Tiersprechschule Asra (or in English: Asra talking school for dogs /animals ). During the Second world war Nazi scientists were interested in teaching dogs to talk and understand How can they communicate in a much wider range with humans. They were also trying to find out how that could be implemented in the battlefield in order to assist the fighters.
